Following the launch of our brand-new Health T Level in autumn, our students have completed their first placement in partnership with East Surrey Hospital. T Levels focus on 80% classroom learning alongside 20% industry placement, offering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience through exposure to the workplace alongside in-depth theoretical learning.

During their placement at East Surrey Hospital, the students completed a comprehensive one-day induction to prepare them before taking part in a one week per month clinical placement. Throughout the programme, the students experienced a wide variety of hospital services including outpatient departments, fracture clinic, cardiac physiology, maternity, endoscopy and therapies. Â

The breadth of opportunity provided enabled the students to apply their classroom concepts in a real healthcare environment. Alongside their academic studies, they have also developed their professional behaviour, built confidence in their abilities and gained a deeper understanding of healthcare careers. Lead Nurse for Education and Professional Development, Alyson Stobbs, told us that “It has been wonderful to see the students grow in confidence during their placements and begin to link their theoretical learning with real‑world practice. They are a fantastic group of students and a real credit to the T Level Health course.”Â
With a vast range of experiences gained through their placement, our students were able to explore the many different career pathways open to them. For some, the placement confirmed their aspirations to work within the NHS while for others it provided valuable insight into how many different opportunities are available in the healthcare industry. Â

It was fantastic to see the students’ enthusiasm and commitment throughout the placement as well as the progress the have made in their T Level course. We are extremely grateful to East Surrey Hospital and all the teams who welcomed and supported our students, helping to make the experience both meaningful and rewarding. The students will return in the summer to continue their industry learning.Â
