On Wednesday 19 November, East Surrey College celebrated International Men’s Day. We were proud to honour the exceptional impact our male staff and students have within our community. Celebrating positive masculinity, highlighting inspiring role models and promoting men’s wellbeing. To mark the occasion, a series of activities took place across the college to show our appreciation and raise awareness of the day’s significance.

Our Foundation Learning students kicked off the celebrations with a delicious bake sale in the main reception area. Their table of homemade treats quickly caught the attention of students and staff arriving at the college. Not only did the sale raise money for International Men’s Day charities, but it also helped spark important conversations about the purpose of the day.

Adding a competitive edge to the day, we also hosted a “Shoot the Hoop” competition. For £1, participants had one minute to score as many basketballs in the hoop as possible, with the highest scorer winning a £25 gift voucher! All proceeds went to helping charities. The event was a brilliant way to celebrate International Men’s Day whilst also bringing together students and staff for some community-spirited fun.

Alongside this, we have been taking photos of male staff and students throughout the college to show our appreciation on our social media pages, be sure to check them out! International Men’s Day inspired us at East Surrey College to celebrate and recognise the positive influence our men have within the college and beyond.
