On Wednesday 14th June Lloyd Jenkins, Contextual Studies Lecturer for Reigate School of Art, had the pleasure of attending a Buckingham Palace Garden Party, held in recognition of those who work in the education and skills sector.
/Hosted by the Department of Education, the Garden Party was an opportunity to recognise the fantastic work being done by over 7,000 educators across the country. Lloyd was nominated by CEO & Principal Lindsay Pamphilon as the ‘obvious choice’ for this privilege, having dedicated 25 years of his life to teaching students at RSA as well as working as part of the Teacher Training Academy. He has been teaching contextual studies to about 300 students per year – covering art, history, ethics, inclusivity and diversity – across a wide range of courses from levels 1 to 6. Lloyd has likely taught around 7,500 students during his time as a lecturer.

Jo Fenwick, Director of Learning, accompanied Lloyd to the Palace and afterwards reflected on how deserving Lloyd was for the opportunity: ‘Everyone loves Lloyd – his extensive knowledge, hilarious sense of humour and ability to act as an inspiring role model to our students and staff, opening their eyes to all things cultural and providing students a sense of understanding and belonging within society, no matter who they are.
‘It was a huge privilege for me to accompany him on such a glorious day, where we ourselves were also made to feel like royalty.’
Lloyds invitation to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party is a well-deserved recognition of the 25 years he has dedicated to students at Reigate School of Art and the wider College. A sincere thank you for your continued hard work and dedication.
