On Friday 26 September, both Foundation Learning and Hair & Beauty students did their part for charity, hosting cake sales in the Salon reception and College canteen to raise funds for Macmillan’s annual Coffee Morning.

For our Foundation Learning students, the event was a valuable learning experience, giving them the chance to put their functional skills into practice. From baking and setting up the stall, to handling cash and taking card payments, our students thoroughly enjoyed supporting the cake sale.
Nicola Hoad, Life Skills Practitioner described how the students ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ taking part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning. Reflecting on the event she said:
‘The teaching kitchen became a hive of activity on Friday morning. Our mission – to bake as many cakes as we can, so we can raise lots of money. It was a perfect opportunity for Foundation Learning students to develop their creative ideas, work as a team to collaborate ideas on what they wanted to sell and gain practical experience in handling customer interactions and sales.
A massive thank you to both our Foundation Learning and Hair & Beauty fundraisers. Across our college community you managed to raise £192 for a much worthy cause.
If you weren’t able to join, you can still support by visiting Macmillan.
