6 March 2026
Friday 6 March marked the final day of a busy week celebrating National Careers Week at East Surrey College, with a range of talks for students covering health, motor vehicle, design and construction.

Starting off in the Auditorium, we had First Community Health and Care, who spoke with health students about how they combine science, technology and patient empathy to identify and manage hearing loss. The organisation has many job opportunities for people starting out in their career including as a nurse, therapist and various support roles.

Tony Briant, a volunteer for Brooklands Museum, was a returning visitor who spoke with motor vehicle students about the historic racetrack and airfield. While production and manufacturing no longer exist at the site, the visit served as a reminder of the innovation that still exist in the British engineering sector as a viable career option for current students.
To round off the week, the college welcomed representatives from VINCI, one of the world’s largest construction and infrastructure companies, operating in over 120 countries with thousands of employees. Berkeley Homes also visited the college, speaking with students about careers in housebuilding and the variety of roles involved in delivering large-scale residential developments.
Reflecting on the week’s events Careers Lead, Helen Gono said:
“National Careers Week has been so uplifting with really good talks from employers that were positive with opportunities for students to gain entry level jobs or apprenticeships. Staff and student feedback has been really rewarding and the students learnt how to get into the job market in their field.”
