On Friday 5 December, the Carpentry department received a generous donation of timber materials from Selco Builders Warehouse, providing a valuable boost to practical training resources across the programme.
The donation includes door linings and stops, a variety of trims, 3×2 and 4×2 sections, and skirting boards. These materials will be extremely useful for student projects, demonstrations, and skills development, directly supporting Level 1 and Level 2 learners as well as those on apprenticeship programmes.
The timber will be used for essential practical tasks such as building door frames and trim, fitting skirting boards, and constructing stud walls giving students access to real-world materials that strengthen their craftsmanship and confidence.
While some pieces may not have been suitable for resale, the donation reflects the College’s commitment to sustainable practice by reducing unnecessary waste wherever possible.
Luke Palmer, Multi Skills Lecturer, organised the donation and expressed his appreciation for Selco’s support:Â
“A massive thank you to Selco for the incredibly generous donation of timber. It’s greatly appreciated, and I know these resources will go far in helping support our learners as they continue to develop their skills.”
