On Wednesday 26 March, the Plan Group, a locally based specialist insurance provider, conducted 20-minute mock interviews with business students at ESC, an exercise that aims to prepare them for the recruitment process.
The practice workshop saw candidates apply for a Customer Service Agent role in front of a member of the Plan Group managerial team. The exercise was a chance for the class to practise how they would conduct themselves in a real-life job interview once they leave college.

Students were given a job description and tasked with preparing for the interview by learning about the job role and the company. Key points of focus for the interviewers were verbal and physical communication cues, the professionalism of the students and how enthusiastic they were about the role. After each interview the Plan Group provided feedback for the candidates on how what they did well and how they could improve to stand out amongst other candidates.

Nick Nathanail, Course Leader in Business highlighted the importance of the exercise, saying: ‘Participating in industry standard mock job interviews, provides our students invaluable preparation for their critical first job interviews. This experience enhances their confidence, professionalism, and ability to succeed in competitive job markets.’
