Hairdressing Level 2 - Megan Hierons
Former School: Riddlesdown Collegiate
Megan chose to study a Hairdressing course, as she had always been interested in hair and beauty, and had heard good things about the facilities. She's loved the course so far, commenting that "I love it more than I thought I would. It wasn’t what I expected it to be.”
In February 2020, Megan competed in the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Competition, in the 1st Year Ladies Commercial Blow Dry & Finish category. She was awarded 1st Place at the Regionals! Megan is a wheelchair user and so finds large competitions like this challenging due to the time restrictions. However, she made sure that she prepared well in advance and so was able to overcome the timing challenges that the competition presented.
“I like to challenge myself so thought this would be a great opportunity.”
Megan also raised over £160 which she donated to MND Association, along with 8 inches of her hair to The Little Princess Trust charity, cut by Level 3 Hairdressing student Eliana. The charity provides free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. After completing her course Megan is looking to study Hair, Media and Make-Up Level 2.
